To commemorate the pioneering event in evangelization, the representation of the hut was carved on the facade of the Chapel of Our Lady of Guadalupe, which may also symbolize a reinforcement of the Franciscan sense of austerity. In the center of Huichapan, facing the main garden, is this monumental complex built over several centuries. It is a complex group of buildings, consisting of the parish of San Mateo, the Chapel of Our Lady of Guadalupe, and the Third Order, linked by a front atrium, which served as a cemetery for many years. This situation gives it a very special character, as several historical stages overlap, offering a repertoire of viceregal architecture in a single group of buildings. In Antonio de Ciudad Rodrigo's report of 1585, he mentions for Huichapan: "The convent is finished, with its church, cloister, dormitory, and orchard, in which walnuts and other fruits and many vegetables are grown; everything is irrigated with the water that comes from a fountain that springs from the same orchard, which is a lot; the convent building is good and its advocacy is San Matheo; the friars who reside in it are four, and everything is in a temperate climate." In this simple chronicle, we find confirmation of the goodness of the climate and the fruits of the earth. Later, in the eighteenth century, with the legacy of Infantry Captain Manuel Gonzalez de Leon, a historic benefactor of the population, the current parish and the Chapel of Calvary were built, among other important works, on the outskirts of the town, between 1753-1763 and 1751-1754, respectively.Los Sabinos In the municipality of Huichapan, specifically in the town of San Jose Atlan, there is a natural paradise called Los Sabinos Ecological Park. This ecological park was established in 2003, and although it is a primarily tourist space, it is also considered a sacred place for the residents of the San Jose Atlan community. This site is considered one of the most beautiful spaces in the state, and for many, it is an ancient space full of magic and legends.Millennial AhuehuetesIn this place, you can find three large ahuehuetes, each approximately 800, 1200, and 1500 years old.Rancho El Mezquite The arena is conditioned for all types of events.Charro-style horse riding lessons.Horseback Riding.Lodging and feeding for horses.Events: Charreadas, Equestrian Competitions, Barbecues, Weddings, First Communion, and any event with a large area.
